Lily Swarn, multilingual poet, author and columnist is a gold medallist from Government College for Girls, Chandigarh and has University Colours for Best Actress and Histrionics from Panjab University from where she is a post graduate in English. She writes with a poignant touch in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. Her book, A Trellis of Ecstasy, was lauded in the media by Chief minister of Punjab, by India Today and by The Journal of Commonwealth Literature, London as a “veritable delight”. Her novel, The Gypsy Trail was launched by the Governor of Punjab. Lilies of the Valley is her highly appreciated book of essays. She has won 25 awards like the Reuel International Prize for Poetry 2016, Global Poet Encomium of Peace and Universal Love, Global Icon of Peace, Virtuoso Award, Elizabeth Barrett Browning International Award, “An Icon” award at Chandigarh establishment day, International Diploma by Temirqazyq, the Best Writer of the World 2017, Poetic Galaxy 2018, Sarojini Naidu Award, Gold Double Cross and Woman of Substance Award, Meritorious Poet and Author 2017. The coveted “Frang Bardhi” International Poetry Contest, Albania gave her a Special Award. She got a Certificate of Honour for disquisition on Metalanguage. World Directory of Literature, History, Art and Culture honoured her with a certificate. Also awarded World Icon of Literature, Pride of India, Living Legend of 21st Century, Ambassador of Humanity and International Icon of Literature titles. Lily’s poetry has been translated into 13 European and Asian languages. She has been a radio show host in the USA and hosted many stage shows.
Lily taught English in Sacred Heart College, Dalhousie. She was the editor of her college magazine and wrote columns for Hindustan Times and Northern India Patrika. Her weekly columns “Cantonment Calling” and “History Mystery of Food” are highly popular. Her poems feature in numerous International and National anthologies. Our Poetry Archive, an International web journal showcased her work in Contemporary Poets of Asia and interview her often as poet of the month.
Lily is widely read in, Atunis Poetry, Poem Kubili, The Garden of Poetry and Prose, Plethora, Learning and Creativity Magazine and the Australia based e-zine The Mind Creative featured her prose.
Frequently invited for her views on the multilingual radio broadcaster, Sher-e-Punjab Radio aired from Vancouver, Lily was interviewed by Red River Radio, “Tales from the Pages” show in USA. She has hosted numerous stage shows and has also hosted a musical radio show in NC, USA.
Her school Carmel Convent called Lily, A “versatile genius”. Her FB page in memory of her late son Gobind Shahbaaz Singh, who died young has a tremendous following.
