The anthology titled Winged Reason in English is the first anthology of Dr K. V. Dominic which is here translated into Tamil as “Gyanach Chiragugal”. The book contains thirty six poems which deal with various issues faced by the the world and India in particular. The poet not only depicts problems and issues of human beings but also showers his compassion towards even the lowest forms of life and he expects the same response from the readers. Moreover, the poet possesses an aesthetic sense and love for Nature which is reflected throughout his poetry. The translator Dr. S. Barathi took extra pain and effort to retain the same stanza structure not losing anything from the original content of the poems.
Dr. Barathi Srinivasan is working as an Assistant Professor at Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre, SASTRA Deemed to be University, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. She is a poet as well as a translator. She has participated and presented papers in various national and international conferences. She has co-edited the book titled Diasporas and Dilemas: The Voice of an Exilewith Dr. K. V. Dominic, which was published in 2018.
She is a bilingual poet and her poems were published in various national and international anthologies. Besides, she is also keen on translation. Her maiden attempt is translation of Gujarati Writer Jayanti M Dalal’s English novel Ordeal of Innocence in Tamil titled Arindum Ariyaamalum in 2018. She is in the process of translating Dalal’s next novel Spatial Echoes, which is to be released soon. She has also translated Mr. Sundar Rajan’s short story collection titled Eternal Art in Tamil titled Nithiyakkalai, which was published in 2018. These translated stories are broadcast every Saturday and Sunday under the title “Sundarakkadhaigal” in Kalpakkam Radio, a community based radio near Chennai.
Prof. Dr. K. V. DOMINIC (b. 1956),Englishpoet, critic, editor and short story writer is a retired professor of the PG & Research Department of English, Newman College, Thodupuzha, Kerala, India - 685585. He has authored/edited 38 books including two short story collections and ten books of poems—six in English and one each translation in French, Hindi, Bengali and Gujarati. He is the Secretary of Guild of Indian English Writers, Editors and Critics (GIEWEC) and Editor of two international refereed biannual journals--Writers Editors Critics (WEC) and International Journal on Multicultural Literature (IJML). He was the former Associate Professor of the PG and Research Department of English, Newman College, Thodupuzha, Kerala, India. PhD researches are in progress on his poetry.
